We are Effective Communicators

In this video, one student was stuck on a word so he decided to ask another student for help. This shows that he is wanting to understand the tricky words in a book. Part of being an effective communicator is making sure we understand what we are reading.

Te Ara Tika - positive difference

Making a positive difference with our learning from Karen on Vimeo.

We can make a positive difference at Frankley School by changing our behaviour from bad to good. In this video, one student was not getting on with her work, while the other student decided to concentrate on his learning. If all the students at Frankley School concentrated on their learning the teachers would be proud and the students would make a positive difference to their own learning. Kanitha, Ethan S, Ava

Hello Room 7, Today I made a big hole to dig for diamonds! We made it big but you can't really see because I am in the sun. It was really big tho. The diamonds are for extra money and I'm searching for gold and iron so I can put iron armour on myself like Iron Man and get laser arms. From Xavier, Callum and Mitchell

Closing circle

The end of the day is a lovely time to reflect and share our learning.  This afternoon we discussed some new vocabulary.  One of the new words we learnt was 'pinkalicious' after Mrs O read us a fantastic book called Pinkalicious.  It was all about delicious pink muffins.

What do you think?

At Frankley School we are working on respecting our PE morning tea and lunchtime equipment.  We have been taking photo's of children using PE equipment wisely.  We would like a way to reward the children we have caught doing the right thing.  Please leave us a comment and share your ideas.

Learning How To Edit

What: This week we have looked at where full stops and capital letters go
Why: We can use them in correctly in our own writing
How: We will know that we have achieved this by using a red pen to edit for full stops and capital letters.

We were introduced to proper nouns. We know the people and place names, days of the week and months, and titles all need a capital. We had to use a C to show if the word needed a capital or a C with a line if it shouldn't have one.

Use our learning board to work out whether these words need capitals:
frankley school, chair, room 67, elephant, banana, bigfoot

Questions about Albatrosses

The Spidermen Reading Group has been reading a story about an albatross. When we were reading the story we had lots of wonder questions about albatrosses. Here are our questions:

Now we need to find the answers. We are looking forward to reading about our answers.

Big Bird

This week the  Spidermen Reading group have been reading a story about an albatross. We predicted what words would be in the story. We got five words out of ten. We got half. Next week we will try to do better. To practice,  I could make some predictions in my reading at home.

We also looked at Wow words in our story. We found lots of wow words that described when the albatross was flying in the storm.

Maths with Someone

The children in Secret 67 HQ worked with a partner to practise and learn number knowledge.  Students became teachers and teachers became students as they worked together on a range of activities.  The children are learning what equipment and activities best support their learning needs.
